Patient success stories:
A big thanks to John Shegerian for sharing his success with his post surgical recovery. John recently reported that after a major ankle fracture and 2 surgeries he’s improved so much that weather changes, long international flights and walking 15,000-17,000 steps a day no longer produce ankle pain with every step. (See news link above for the full story). There’s still a long road ahead for John but he’s getting there one step, one appointment, one home exercise session at a time.
John is a testament to what consistency, determination, good hands-on physical therapy, and adherence to a home exercise program can accomplish.

🏃♀️ Health Tip: Daily Walking for Longevity
-inspired by John’s story
Incorporating daily walking into your routine can significantly enhance your health and longevity. A comprehensive review published in the Journal of Preventive Medicine and Hygiene highlights that regular physical activity, such as walking, plays a substantial role in reducing the risk of non-communicable diseases—including cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers—in a dose-dependent manner. Regular exercise is also associated with numerous health benefits and delayed mortality.
Key Takeaways:
•Cardiovascular Health: Regular walking helps lower blood pressure and improves heart health.
•Metabolic Benefits: It aids in maintaining healthy blood sugar levels and body weight.
•Mental Well-being: Walking can reduce stress and enhance mood.
•Longevity: Consistent physical activity is linked to a longer, healthier life.
Recommendation: Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity walking each week, which breaks down to about 30 minutes a day, five days a week. Remember, even short bouts of walking throughout the day contribute to these benefits.
